RainCheck Workshop

Through the Philadelphia Water Department’s Rain Check program, managed by PHS, Philadelphia residents can have stormwater management tools installed at their homes for free or for a reduced price.

Community Gardens Day

PHS Plant Swap and Orchid Tips & Tricks!

Join PHS and fellow plant enthusiasts for a monthly Plant Swap at the PHS Pop Up Garden at South Street. Bring and brag about your champion plants from home and exchange for “new to you” plants and cuttings. Also bring your orchid divisions and orchid questions, experts from the Southeastern Pennsylvania Orchid Society will be on hand.

Garden enthusiasts and plant geeks can enjoy this stellar garden on many different levels from the design to the hundreds of interesting plants. The owners have carefully thought out every decision about siting plants from displaying plants to their best advantage to color, color combinations, texture, the visual impact of light and shade, plus re-purposing interesting objects for the garden. Enjoy light refreshments as the owners lead a stroll through the garden to introduce you to favorite plants and answer questions about anything from cultural requirements to the value of good air circulation.

PECO Green Roof Tour *

Want to learn about green roof technology and how it can help the environment? The 45,000 square foot PECO green roof, maintained by PHS, features an observation deck and stunning downtown views of downtown Philadelphia. Space is limited to 25 people per tour, and pre-registration at least two business days before the tour is required. Tour participants must be at least 18 years of age.
